I think I'm always one of those person who prefers to be the one taking the photo rather than be in the photo ever since I was little, weird right? So I started my photography way back in college, I had this old point and shoot camera back then that you can bring around anywhere. After I graduated college my mom gifted me my first DSLR camera, I started shooting around with it and fell in love and learned photography even more. I shot anything and anyone around me from leaves, bridges, fences, streets, food, random things and people, whatever it is, I mean we all started somewhere right?
Fast forward to when I started Instagram, this platform is so great for creatives like you and I. You can discover so many things and other creatives showing their art. I remembered the day that I learned about this photo meets in LA, I was so pumped up that there is a venue for creatives to hang and gather around just to create, I easily fell to that idea. I was a little skeptical at first because I don't know anyone, locations was sketchy and I really don't know what to expect.
My very first photo meet was around November 2016, it was a halloween meet hosted by @streetmeela and @tfti_la, I went by myself, and I was so glad I made it. It was amazing how you can meet, create and connect with like minded and talented individuals all in one place. There are a bunch of photographers, models, fire breathers, people in costumes, face paints, some use smoke bombs, whatever it is to express creativity you'll find it all there, and I discovered different great locations too that I don't even know it existed. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience for me that I started going to this meets on regular basis whenever I can. I met so many individuals from photographers to models to other creatives in general that I looked up to and eventually did collabs with some of them. I learned so much from this experience just by being surrounded by people from this community who share the same passion and support each one another. It helped me grow as a creative and inspired me to push myself to keep creating, It was truly an eye opening experience that I will never forget.
